So I bet you are asking where are the Co-Bros??? Why didn't I see them at Winchester? Well it's funny how life provides opportunity when you least expect it... Well it did just that for me. Kim and I are in the processing of moving back to Raleigh for a great job opportunity at Cisco Systems and are a little too busy to slow down for BBQ comps at the moment. Once we get settled in and can assess the schedule we will decide how to procede with the BBQ's. Kirk and the rest of the Bros are also looking at options for cooking without me. :( But never fear, I have committed to a minimum or returning to Decatur for Riverfest in September and hope to at least visit a few comps to see our BBQ friends.  At our first contest, we showed up with 3 Big Green Eggs, an EZ-UP 10X10 Canopy and a couple of folding utility tables. I learned two very important things that weekend. First, Loading and unloading multiple 140 pound cookers at multiple people's houses into and out of a pickup truck is a lot of trouble, and second prepping all of our competition meat at a 3 foot tall table is back breaking for a 6'2" man. I vowed that day that I would never have to do those 2 things for another contest. From that experience the plan for the cooking rig began to linger in my mind. |
